Sprint is excited to announce its Series A investment in ausbiz

Founded by Kylie Merritt and David Koch, ausbiz is Australia’s dedicated business and finance streaming service and has cemented itself as the go-to news platform for experienced Australian investors.

Launched on March 30, 2020, ausbiz streams 8 hours of live news and information about business, finance and startups. It is available via ausbiz’s website and iOS platforms, and via partner platforms Flash, Samsung TV Plus, 7Plus, Iress and Adviser Ratings.

Australia’s Trusted Voice In Business And Finance

“Our team produces eight hours of quality investing content each and every trading day,” said Kylie Merritt, ausbiz Founder and Managing Director.

Sprint’s investment marks ausbiz’s first venture capital funding, as it invests in developing a new video platform that creates smarter ways for subscribers to connect with investment information, ideas and opportunities.

“We believe in the team ausbiz has built and in the potential for the platform to serve even more of the business and investor market,” shares Llew Jury, Managing Partner and Founder of Sprint.

“The traction the ausbiz platform has secured and its deepening trust across the business community is a key driver behind our investment. Ausbiz’s new platform creates opportunities for fresh interaction and will enrich the investor economy.”

Founder and managing director Kylie Merritt said the capital injection comes as the media startup also builds out its team.

“It’s a privilege to join Sprint’s impressive portfolio of investments and be able to leverage the team’s experience across the technology sector,” she said.

“I’m excited to work with Sprint and our other partners to build something of real value for Australian investors.”

Strong Foundations And A Fresh Approach

With an existing network of leading partnerships and clients, including Nabtrade, IG, Superhero, Stake, Betashares and ETF securities, Sprint saw the strong foundations upon which the ausbiz can scale.

Founders Kylie and David have extensive media experience spanning SKY News, Sunrise and News Corp and bring with them unique insights into the media industry & knowledge regarding how Ausbiz can stand out from its competitors.

Our investment team’s research highlighted that currently one-third of Australian investors prefer to get their investing information via video and is expected to grow.

“The informed investor wants up-to-the-minute business data and news – but more than that, they want the context behind the news and trusted analysis which the ausbiz team delivers,” said Jury.

As investors in early and growth stage businesses, we are particularly supportive of the platform that ausbiz gives to startups. It’s challenging for startups to grab a share of the media market – but critical for a healthy startup economy, and more broadly, innovation.

For investors and fund managers, the platform will be a game-changer, offering new lead generation and global reach.
