Founder FAQs

Talking to a VC about funding is a big step and we understand you will likely have questions. We’ve put together some responses to our most frequently asked questions.

Do I need to have demonstrated revenue to apply?

Having existing revenue streams is considered positively but isn’t essential. Sprint invests in early stage businesses including pre-Seed. If you’re pre-revenue, we’ll review your financial modelling, market demand, early traction with go-to-market partners or pilots etc, and will review closely any valuation estimates.

What if I already have investors?

Sprint is a collaborative venture capital team – we actively lead funding rounds and co-invest with multiple investors. We’ll explore your existing investors relationships with you as part of due diligence.

What companies have you already invested in?

We’ve invested in several extraordinary ideas from passionate founders. Take a look at our portfolio.

Where does the money come from?

Sprint raises funds from wholesale/ sophisticated investors, financial planners and family offices as well as our founding partners.

Do you invest in organisations outside of Australia?

No, we only invest in Australian businesses.

What information do I need to apply?

We recommend you take a look at our Founders resources and ensure you have the detail required for our Funding Application application form in advance to be sure you have everything ready. As well as an up-to-date pitch deck, you will need to describe your company, know your numbers and share your ambitions. If you’re invited to progress to due diligence we recommend you prepare a data room

How soon will you get back to me?

We receive a large amount of applications daily but we also respect your time and effort. Once you submit your application, you should hear back from us within a week.

Can I talk to you before I submit an application?

Yes! You are welcome to connect with us via Sprint Office Hours where you can book 30mins with select members of our team.

How do you work with your founders?

Our investment thesis reflects how we work with our founders:

We believe founders should control their enterprise (to keep the magic alive).

We have a special relationship of trust and confidence where we honour and support our founders.

Our founders’ hard work provides the ‘alpha’ in returns to our investors.

We go beyond financial capital and provide our founders with infrastructure via our Venture Studio, experiential, social and human capital to support their goals across the business and as people leaders.

What do you need from us after funding?

Founders are busy and we don’t want to get in the way of your important work. Of course, we need regular updates from the businesses in our portfolio and most importantly we ask you to be open and transparent about your wins, as well as your challenges, so that we can give you support that’s valuable to you. If we make an investment offer, we’ll share with you our expectations for founder updates and provide dedicated onboarding and ongoing support to our Founders via our FoundersFirst community.
